Contour Dining Table

Black is not a colour. At this table, it is a decision.

Two wide serpentine leg panels — their silhouettes curving inward at the waist and swelling outward at the shoulder and foot in a continuous S-form — carry a long flat ebonised top with a theatrical confidence that stops the room. The curves are generous and deliberate, referencing the cabriole tradition of fine furniture making while arriving somewhere entirely contemporary, entirely resolved. In flat matte black, the grain of the oak whispers beneath the finish — present, textural, alive — stopping the piece from ever feeling cold despite its darkness.

The top is wide and generous — long enough for eight, flat enough for a full table setting, its square edges sharp and uncompromising above the curved drama below. The contrast between the geometric restraint of the top and the organic movement of the legs is the whole tension of the piece, and it never resolves in favour of either — both exist, both hold.

Flowers on this table look more vivid. Candles burn more meaningfully. Everything placed on it feels considered.
