A long, pale concrete top — thick-slatted, cool to the eye, and textured with the honest irregularity of cast stone — floats above a bold crossed oak base that plants itself on the floor with absolute conviction. Two wide weathered oak beams intersect at the centre in a deep X, their chamfered ends angling outward to four wide feet, their grain darkened and aged into a tone that sits somewhere between driftwood and reclaimed timber. The contrast between the pale concrete above and the dark crossed oak below is direct and unambiguous — industrial and organic, cool and warm, light and grounded.

The top is generous in length — wide enough to carry a lamp, a bowl, a stack of books, and still have room left over. The X-base keeps the floor open and visible beneath, so the whole piece reads as floating despite its undeniable solidity.
