Most side tables hide nothing because there is nothing to find. The Fente is different.
A round grey oak top sits above a cylindrical white body — but the cylinder is not closed. Two vertical cuts open the form front and back, revealing a curved internal shelf in the same grey oak below. The negative space between the cuts gives the table its character — shadow and light playing through the gap, the interior shelf visible and useful, the whole piece feeling lighter and more considered than its solid proportions suggest.
The quarter-sawn grey oak top radiates outward from the centre in a subtle sunburst pattern, its grain directional and deliberate, sitting flush above the warm white curved body like a lid that belongs. The inner shelf mirrors it in shape, smaller and lower, catching the eye through the open cuts.
Two materials. One gap. A table that is more interesting from every angle than the last.
