The Louvre Dining Table

Two wide rectangular pedestal blocks — solid dark walnut, their corners softly rounded — each carry a series of receding concentric arches carved directly into their face, the deepest arch cutting cleanly through the full height of the pedestal to create an open void, the surrounding arches stepping outward in diminishing layers like the entrance to something grander than a dining room. The effect is architectural and deeply textural, shadow pooling differently in each arch recess at every hour of the day.

Above, a generous rectangular top in the same dark walnut sits with rounded corners and a subtle bevelled edge profile — its grain rich and close, the whole surface warm and deeply finished. It overhangs the pedestals equally on all sides, the proportions balanced, the weight of the stone-dark timber perfectly distributed.
